The company got its start in 1914. But it took them another thirteen years before they really began to make their mark on the automotive world. It’s understandable. The unique whitewall tires that they have made famous might have been a little too much to swallow at first. But soon, as Hollywood stars started to take a shine to these unique products, the rest of the world started to sit up and take notice as well. By the 1930s, Vogue Tires had become as famous as the stars who loved them. This quickly elevated the brand into the ranks of leadership in both style and luxury.
- At the company’s 100-year anniversary celebration, Vogue president Greg Hathcock told Tire Review magazine, “We understand that without those people, we wouldn’t be here today. From the start, originality has been our cornerstone. Vogue was for people who wanted their car to stand out and be unique.”

- Vogue fell on hard times during World War 2, as the demand for primarily beautiful tires fell by the wayside. The government took possession of all of the country’s rubber, making life especially challenging for Vogue. Reluctantly, the owner sold the company in 1942 for just $50,000.
- Under new ownership, the company built upon its reputation by adding new and unheard of levels of durability and performance. In a world torn by war, the immense practicality that Vogue added to the standard automobile tire served the company exceedingly well.
- After the end of the war, the United States entered into a period of unparalleled prosperity. It was then that the winning style and grace embodied in Vogue’s famous whitewall tires found new favor with a new middle class that was for the first time, flush with cash.
